Let’s get into this jank
First things first, let’s break down the WHO.
When we say “we”, “us”, “Hampton Roads Directory”, and “HRD”, we are referring to Hampton Roads Directory, a Simon Media, LLC product. Our “Site” is our website and mobile application. “Our services” include the website, email, and mobile application features and operations. “You” and “your” refer to you, the HRD user. “User” refers to someone who explores, discovers, connects, and in any way uses our Site. “Stops” refer to third party businesses using our services.
Now on to the good stuff, the WHAT and the WHY.
The information we collect and what we do with it
When using our service, we collect and store information about you to create a streamlined and customized HRD experience. With this information, we carry out your requests, maintain, expand, and tailor on our services, track our services’ usage, provide feedback to Stops, cater our advertising, market HRD, connect with you, keep our systems safe, secure, and up-to-date, and comply with any and all legal obligations.
The information you provide
Account information: When you create an account with HRD, we store the information you provide: your full name, email address, zip code, and anything else you decide to share. Your first name and last initial and the photo you give during the sign-up process will be displayed publically as part of your account profile. To change information associated with your account, click here. If someone has created an account in your likeness, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Public Content: The information you add to our services is public. This includes your reviews, tips, photos, videos, likes, Events, bookmarks, lists, account profile, and Deals. We make this information public on HRD as well as share it with businesses and third party sites and services.
Social Media: We store the social media accounts you chose to connect with HRD.
Connections: When you have an account with HRD, you consent to receiving communications usually in the form of emails from Stops, and HRD itself. If you email a stop through the contact provided by HRD, we store that message and information. For the Stops to respond, they use their own email service and the communication switches over to that service. We track your actions (like deletion or forwarding) in response to these messages. We won’t deliver messages that we believe are spam or unethical like offers for compensation for reviews. HRD can access and share messages in relation to investigations. You can manage certain email preferences here; however, you must receive certain administrative, transactional, or legal messages from HRD so we can keep things running smoothly. We also save our communication with you from emails and letters to phone calls and face-to-face interactions. If you are a representative of a Stop on HRD, we may reach out to you by phone or email with the contact information you have provided, what we have on file, or what is publicly available.
As a business account, when you purchase a Stop or an event, we save information about you necessary to process the transaction, this includes but is not limited to your name, phone number, address, email, and credit card information. Credit card submissions are industry-standard encrypted.
We save the information about the way you use HRD. This includes what you search, what you view, when you view it, and how you use our app. If you are using HRD with a computer, we store information such as the browser you use, type of computer or mobile device you have, your browser language, your IP address, your mobile carrier, phone number, or location, and requested and referring URLs.
Cookies make our services smarter in the same way real cookies make life better. With cookies, we process better- this could mean knowing when you already have an account with us. Cookies help protect against fraud. We establish the way you like to use HRD from notifications to preferences. We can make advertising more relevant. We can use analytics to better HRD overall. Yum!
The information we share
How to change that:
Remember: Opting out doesn’t stop you from receiving advertisement.
We may share aggregated user information with third parties but this will be anonymized.
Stops on HRD: We may share information about you, your devices, and the way you use HRD with the Stops on HRD. You can change your sharing settings here. Stops can see all Public Content you provide as well as your transactions with them.
For legal reasons: We release account and other personal information if we have good faith belief that such investigation or disclosure is needed to comply with the law, is helpful to prevent, investigate, or identify any possible wrongdoing connected to our services, enforce applicable Terms of Service, or to protect our rights, property, or safety of HRD, our users or the public.
There are links on our site that lead to unaffiliated third party services. We do not give your personal information to these services.
With Third party accounts: If you sign up for HRD using a third party service like Facebook, we can receive information about you from said third party.
Why we collect personal information
We collect personal information to provide personalized services to our users, to help monitor and improve the services we offer, to sell advertising space, and to market services to users.
Your personal information

You can change the settings of your public information here.
What happens when you delete your account
HRD does not knowingly collect or solicit information from anyone under the age of 16 or knowingly allow such person to register for our services. If you believe a child is using our services without parental consent, please contact us here.
We work hard to protect HRD and our users from any online threat. We follow industry standards to protect the information submitted to us. Like any website, we cannot guarantee 100% security.
